Myrtie Beard Purvis, 85, wife of the late Willie “Bill” Scurry Purvis, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Lake City Community Hospital. Mrs. Myrtie Purvis was born in Florence County, daughter of the late Joseph Albert Beard and Roxie Jane Gaymon Beard. Surviving are her daughter and caregiver, Mary Ann Purvis Love of Lake City; grandchildren, Destiny, Brandon, Daniel, Victoria, Marsha and Willie, Jr; a number of great grandchildren.

Mrs. Purvis was preceded in death by her sons, Willie Joe Purvis and Donald “Red” Purvis. A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 25, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, prior to the services at the funeral home.
