Obituary for Neva Joyce Maphet Coats, Kansas – Neva Joyce Maphet, 91, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Hutchinson Health and Rehab. She was born August 25, 1927 in Coats to Charles and Mae (Heflin) Burgin. On August 25, 1944, she married Laurence Luther Maphet in Coats.

He preceded her in death on April 22, 1965. Neva worked in the kitchen at Skyline School and then went to Pratt Regional Medical Center where she worked in housekeeping and retired from. She attended church at the Coats and Pratt United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed sewing, doing crafts and cooking. She is survived by her son, Rodney (Valle Swafford) Maphet of Medicine Lodge; daughters, Sondra Lambert of Hutchinson and Rita (Dennis) Stevenson of Salina; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; daughter, Tina Brandyberry; parents; one brother; and five sisters.

Cremation has taken place. Family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Inurnment will be at Coats Cemetery, Coats.

Memorials may be made to Skyline School Foundation in care of Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd, Pratt.
