Norman L. Hunter, 85, of Evansville, IN went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 07, 2019 at Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born in Lawrenceburg, IN on December 25, 1933 to the late Fannie (Benney) and Charles C. Hunter. Norman recently completed his 65th year as a licensed funeral director.

He retired in December 2018 from Ziemer Funeral Home after 20 years of service. He was a graduate of The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and Lockyear College. Norman served the Evansville and Tri-State area for 61 years in many capacities including: Johann Funeral Home, Hunter Mortuary Service, Community Ambulance Service, “Cab-U-Lance Service”, Medco Corporation, Vanderburgh Council on Aging, Service Consultants Inc., and Vantage Health Care Corporation.

Norman served as a funeral director at Boone Funeral Home for several years before joining Ziemer Funeral Home’s staff in 1997. Norman was a member of Bethel Temple Community Church for 59 years, where he served in many capacities including teaching to both children and adults, mission work, and volunteering at events. Norman had a love for evangelism, to share Christ with others, and to tell of his joy in the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jo Ann; daughters, Kathryn (Dale) Perdue of Carmel, IN, Deborah (Stuart) Goldblatt of Raleigh, NC, Nanci (D.J.) Yetter of Peoria, AZ, and Leanne (Nathan) Kelle of Owensville, IN; grandchildren, Nathan (Anne) Perdue, Neil (Heather) Perdue, Melani (Anthony) Hensley, Shannon Fischer, Katy (Chris) Parsons, Jonathan Kelle, Rebekah Kelle, Asher Kelle; and 8 great grandchildren. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wesley Hunter. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave.

, Evansville. A Celebration of Life, Funeral will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, May 11,2019 at the funeral home with Pastors David and Stephen Schwambach officiating. Burial will be private at the family cemetery in Versailles, Indiana .
