Obituary for Owen “O. H ” Sloan O.H. Sloan – Duffield, VA O.H. Sloan, 89, Duffield, VA passed away, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Sloan was born in Sullivan County, TN on June 19, 1928.

He was the son of the late Ray and Clara (Kindle) Sloan. He retired from the Foote Mineral Company, was a farmer, and a charter member of Clinchport Masonic Lodge No. 267.

In addition to his parents, his loving wife, Elvia Hood Sloan, brother, Thomas Sloan; and sisters, Ida Bess Barrett, Nadine Wilson, and Gladys Head preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Lester (Karen) Sloan, Duffield, VA, Mark Sloan, Kingsport, TN, and Martin (Melissa) Sloan, Gate City, VA; grandsons, Jeffrey Sloan and Stephen (Barbara) Sloan, both of Duffield, VA; great grandchildren, Makala Sloan and fiance’, Josh Walters, Rogersville, TN and Makenzie (Austin) Bowen, and Isaiah Sloan, all of Duffield, VA; great-great grandsons, Andrew Walters and Ace Bowen; brothers, Charles (Patricia) Sloan, Hubert (Nelle) Sloan, both of Duffield, VA; sisters, Lucy Sloan Johnson, Maryland; sisters-in-law, Reba Stokes, Weber City, VA, Faye Sloan, and Betty (Phillip) Wills, all of Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his son, Lester Sloan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. The Oak Glen Quartet will be providing the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m., Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service. An online guest register is available for the Sloan family at www.
