Obituary for Margie McNew (Lucas) Margie Ruth (Lucas) McNew – Big Stoney Creek, VA. Margie Ruth (Lucas) McNew, 91, Stoney Creek, passed away Sunday June 24th, 2018 at Indian Path Medical Center with her family be her side. Margie was born in Scott County VA on February 9th, 1927.
The daughter of late Roy and Clyde Sweeney Lucas. In addition to her parents, her husband, K.L. “Pete” McNew; her sons Michael, Christopher and infant son; grandson Clinton McNew; great-grandson Jeremy McNew; sisters Joan Perry and Cara Begley; brothers Stacey and Ernest Lucas preceded her in death. Left to cherish in her memory are her children: daughters Linda Sue Starke, Greensboro, N.C., Ann (David) Ward, Temple City, C.A., Shelia Gwen Jones, Yuma, V.A., and Penny (Mark) Osborne, Dungannon V.A., sons Jerry (Jeannie) McNew, Stoney Creek, Wayne (Teresa) McNew, Coeburn, V.A. Wendell (Debbie) McNew, Gate City V.A., Steve (Rita) McNew, Stoney Creek, Kevin McNew Stoney Creek, Kenneth (Janet) McNew, Mt.
Carmel T.N., Keith (Christy) McNew, Kingsport T.N.; Several grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Sisters, Deanna Nickels, Ft. Blackmore, V.A. and Tommie (Doug) Presley, gate City, V.A. Her extended family; Phyllis McNew Nitschke, Kingsport, T.N., Glenn (Tootsie) McNew, Altamont, I.L., Eugene (Nancy) McNew, Jonesborough, T.N. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday June 28th, 2018 at the Gate city Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve McNew officiating. Mickey and Nickki Summey will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday June 29th, 2018 at the McNew family Cemetery, Stoney Creek community of Scott County, V.A. with Steve McNew officiating. Grandsons and Son-in-Law will serve as pallbearers. Family and Friends are asked to meet at the Cemetery for the graveside service.
Those who wish to bring food and visit the family are asked to take it to the Fort Blackmore Methodist Camp building on Stoney Creek immediately following the graveside service. The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Sue Darnell; the Scott County lifesaving crew, staff at Clinch River Health Services, Indian Path Medical Center, and Holston Valley Medical Center for the wonderful care of our mother.
