Obituary for Harmie Estepp Harmie J. Estepp – Gate City, VA Harmie Junior Estepp, 90, departed this Earthly life as his family gathered near, to go “HOME” Monday evening, July 23, 2018. He was born October 22, 1927 to Elbert Martin and Maggie Louise (Lane) Estepp. He and his high school sweetheart, Betty Jane MacArthur were married June 1, 1946 having spent 69 and ½ years together before her death in 2015.
Harmie retired from Mead Corporation (now Domtar) having worked 29 and ½ years as an electrician. After his retirement, he started his own electrical business which lasted more than 30 years. There were not many homes or businesses in the Gate City/Scott County area that he didn’t receive his personal touch as he completed electrical works and repairs.
He attended Jennings Mission Holiness Church and later Bethel Apostolic Church. Harmie loved his Savior, Jesus and was always eager to talk about the Lord. He knew this world was not his home and longed to spend eternity in Heaven.
His parents, wife Betty, granddaughter Carrie Ann Wolfe, great granddaughter, Hayley White; along with his siblings, Nettie Bartlett, Claudia Spivey, Arthur Estepp, Annabell Lynch, and Madge Boy preceded him in death. Survivors include his children, Gwendell (Karen) Estepp, Ronald (Diane) Estepp, Annette (Terry) Wolfe, Jeff (Robin) Estepp, and Melisa (Rick) Collins; grandchildren, Bill Estepp (Amber Gillenwater), Jarrett (April) Estepp, Brad Estepp, Mandie (David) Donihue, Kari (Jeff) White, Ryan Gray, Andy (Jennifer) Wolfe, Benny (Davina) Wolfe, Kristen (Doug) Napier, Jordan (Morgan) Estepp, Taylor (Dillon) ton, Aaron (Sarah) Collins and Aubrey (Cassidy) Light; great grandchildren, Cierra, Peyton, Carter, Lake, Whitney, Jasper, Rylee, Anna, Jack, Logan, Carlie, Sophia, Isaiah, Tatum, Jaxon, Easton, Cora, Kemp, (soon to be) Maggie, Emma, and Raylan; great great grandchild, Kayden; sisters-in-law, Anna Ruth Estepp and Mary Lou Roberts; along with many nieces and nephews; and special care giver, Patricia Bloomer. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Garland Tipton, Rev. Luther Russell, and Rev. Hagan Webb officiating.
Rick Osborne Singers will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN. Grandsons and Great Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Bill Estepp, Brad Estepp, Bob Light, Earnest Thomas, Thomas Hensley, Ed Tipton, Kay Gibson, and Ted Collins will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m, Friday to go in procession to the graveside service. An online guest register is available for the Estepp family at www.
