Obituary for Thomas “T.R.” Mullins T.R. Mullins – Hiltons, VA Thomas Robert (T.R.) Mullins, 84, Hiltons, VA passed away, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. T.R. was born in Scott County, VA on June 12, 1934. He was the son of the late John Sam and Ruth L. (McMurray) Mullins.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from AFG Greenland. In addition to his parents, his wife, Georgia Mullins preceded him in death. Surviving are his sisters, Elna McMurray, Norma McMurray, and Nancy Harris and husband, Donald; brother, Larry Mullins and wife, Margaret; step daughters, Diane Horton, Donna Smith, Penny Riggs and husband, Scott, and Mitzi Markland and husband, Phillip; eight step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one expectant great grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Eugene Osborne officiating.
Military Graveside services will be conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard assisted by members of the Virginia National Guard Honors Team at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Chad Mullins, Caleb Mullins, Johnathan Hart, James Smith, Tom Baker, Joseph Hensley, and Steve Sallee will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, to go in procession to the graveside service.
