“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His godly ones”. Psalm 116:15 Patricia Anita LeVan Roberts (Patsy) of Marietta left this world to join her Heavenly Father on January 25, 2019. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 20, 1935, to Frederick W. Worrill and Catherine M. Lively, Patsy was raised by her great uncle and aunt, Alvin F. and Catherine B. Lively in Charlotte, NC.
She was reunited in Marietta with her mother, stepfather, Harold LeVan, and three of her siblings several years later, and eventually with her father, step-mother Martha, and three more siblings. Patsy attended Marietta High School but graduated from North Fulton High School. She met Earl Roberts while a student at Marietta High, and they were secretly married on June 1, 1953.
Together they raised five children and although she was a stay-at-home mother, Patsy devoted many hours to the local PTA, to her children’s sports teams, and to local and national campaigns for the Republican Party. Besides volunteering outside the home, Patsy helped Earl with his propane gas business, Fuels, Inc. Once her children were grown, Patsy’s various occupations included working in the pharmacy at Canton Road Drugstore, as a cashier and in customer service at Kroger, with the tape ministry for Mount Paran Church of God, and as a cashier at Publix. She took great joy in meeting and serving customers, some of whom became life-long friends.
During these years she helped also raise some of her grandchildren; she was always devoted to her family. In addition, she pursued her passion for antiquing by starting her own business, Recycled Blessings, with a dear friend. Throughout her life, she enjoyed a variety of interests and hobbies, including painting, counted cross stitch, embroidery, and rug making.
Despite her many interests and hobbies, Patsy’s greatest joy came from her relationship with Jesus Christ, Who became her Lord and Savior later in life. She shared her faith boldly with those around her and had the joy of seeing all her children come to Christ through the power of her testimony. She was first a member of Crestview Baptist Church, then moved to Mount Paran Church of God, followed family members to Eastside Baptist Church, and ultimately became a member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock.
After 34 years of marriage, Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, in 1986. Patsy is survived by her five children: Kyle Marcinko (Wayne), Scott Roberts, Kathy Rainer (John), Kelly Moye (Ray) of Huntsville, AL, and Todd Roberts (Sherri). She was known as “Grandmoma” to Kyle’s children, Andrea and Paul; Scott’s children, Michael, Desiree, Ashley, and Taylor; Kathy’s children, Johnny, Jacob, and Joshua; Kelly’s children, Belinda, Amanda, and Nathan; and Todd’s children, Chase and Zoe.
In addition to her grandchildren, Patsy was blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren; Anslee, Elizabeth, Ava, Alexander, Evelyn, Madelyn, Caroline, Ezra (who is with her now), Henry, Hannah, Joylea, along with Claire and Shepherd who are soon to be born. Surviving siblings include her brother Jack R. Worrill, sisters Karen LeVan Whatley, Suzy Worrill Davis, and Peggy Worrill Jones, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Frederick W. LeVan and her sister Dona LeVan King.
For the past several years this beloved mother and friend had been fighting Alzheimer’s. Her children and loved ones find comfort knowing she has been healed and that they will see her again in their eternal home, Heaven! The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1st at Mayes Ward-Dobbins, 180 Church Street in Marietta.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2nd followed by interment at Kennesaw Memorial Park. The family requests no flowers but know that Patsy would be honored with contributions in her name to First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Missions Department, 11905 Hwy. 92, Woodstock, GA 30188.
