Obituary for Patty Sue Reid Patty Sue (Wade) Reid, 77 of Fort Gibson was born April 22, 1941 in Dewar, Oklahoma to Prentiss and Jane (Gilbert) Wade and passed away peacefully Saturday, May 12, 2018 at her home. Patty grew up in Dewar, Oklahoma where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1959. She continued her education attending Connors College majoring in Home Economics and graduated in 1963.

In 1964 she married the love of her life Jimmy Reid. She then continued her education attending Northeastern State College from 1964-1965. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Joneie Sue and Jameie Lenn.

In connection with Jimmy’s oilfield related employment, she lived in many different places, Davis, Velma, Watonga, Duncan, County Line and Norman Oklahoma. While living in all of these places, she found time to work in various Southern Baptist and Freewill Baptist Churches. She taught classes and held offices in most of them.

She was a great wife, mother and friend to many. In 1980, after several years of searching for an answer and knowing that something was wrong, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 39. Jimmy states that he has never seen anyone like her.

She stood up and took the disease to battle, refusing to let it take over her life. Jimmy loved her more than she will ever know. In 1993 she moved to their ranch in Fort Gibson, OK.

She enjoyed looking for strange rocks, artifacts and plants. If you took all the holes she has dug and put them together, you could bury a car in it. And if you didn’t keep an eye on her she would stay in the woods all day.

She loved the Lord, family and John Wayne. Patty was a member of the Lakeside Freewill Baptist Church and will be missed by many. God assures us, we will see her again.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother in law, Donald Haley Walker; precious friends, Mary Joe and Stewart Combs. Those left to cherish her memory; husband, Jimmy Reid; daughters, Joneie Reid of Tulsa, Jameie Combs and husband Brandon of Fort Gibson; sister, Irma Walker of Henryetta; brother, Prentiss Wade of Tulsa; grandchildren, Kate and Keri Combs of Fort Gibson; special life long friend, Thomas Hart and many other friends.
