Pearlean Cathey May 01, 1932 – May 12, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Pearlean Cathey, 87, of Indianola, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Tulsa. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Indianola with Rev.

Freddie Morrison officiating, assisted by Stanley Hyde. Burial will follow at Indianola Cemetery. Pearlean was born on May 1, 1932 in the Bugtussle Community to Jake and Ada (Dobbs) Helms.

She married Harold Cathey on November 26, 1953 in McAlester, and they made their home in Indianola. She worked for over 30 years for Komar, retiring as an inspector. She enjoyed cooking for her family as well as many others, and was the family doctor.

She also enjoyed gardening and working crossword puzzles. Pearlean is survived by her children: Karen Helms of Wilson, Jimmy Cathey and wife, Tammy, Rhonda Tripp and husband, Benny, and Miles Cathey, all of Indianola, Ricky Cathey and wife, Kandy of Arpelar, Renae Bennett and husband, Dale of Indianola, and Kathy Cathey of Haywood; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; brother: Alvin Helms and wife, Wilma of Pampa, Texas; and brothers-in-law and spouses: Jack Cathey and wife, June of Meeker, Bill Cathey and wife, Sherrie of Indianola. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Harold Cathey, son: Randy Cathey, 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.
