PEGGY ELAINE BOWES CLOWER age 69, of 1618 Shotwell Street, Roxboro, NC died Thursday morning, November 1, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Clower was born March 30, 1949 in Halifax County, VA, daughter of the late Ed Luther & Sallie Jane Briggs Bowes and was wife of 42 years to the late Basil Day Clower. She was retired from Tultex Mills and was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Wendy Clower Taylor, Rosie Jane Rickmond & husband, James all of Roxboro, NC, two sisters, Shirley B. Reaves, Nellie Bet Bowes both of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Sally Nichole Taylor, K.C. Clayton, Jr., Caitlin Rose Clayton, Krista Elaine Clayton, Kimberly Rickmond, step-great grandson, Christopher James Raines, and a great grandchild on the way. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Clower is preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Jean Walker, Henrietta Tuck, Ava Marie West, Jerline Bowes, five brothers, Jerry Bowes, Monroe Bowes, Clyde Bowes, Bruce Bowes, and Paul Bowes. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev.

Chad Benefield officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Caitlin Clayton, K.C. Clayton, Jr., Krista Clayton, John Pleasant, Daniel Raines, and Sally Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Bowling and James Reaves. Arrangements are by Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services, 1810 Durham, Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
