Peggy Nell Smith , October 28, 1927 — May 29, 2018

Peggy Nell Smith was born in Allen, Texas on October 28, 1927, to Byrd and Nellie Gilland Brooks. She grew up in Frisco, Texas and later attended Kilgore College where she was a member of the Kilgore Rangerettes. It was there she met and Married J C. Smith on 7/29/1948.

After a brief time in Greenville and Ft. Worth, Texas Peggy and J.C. moved to Alvarado, Texas where Peggy made her home for over 60 years. Peggy worked as an administrative assistant for Mr. Walls of Walls Clothing and then at The Ft.

Worth General Services Administration Depot as an administrative assistant to the director until her retirement. After retirement she continued working for Linda Neely law office. During her time in Alvarado she served and worshiped faithfully at First Baptist Church Alvarado.

She served the community with Santa’s Helpers, Garden Club and Sr. Citizens Center. Peggy left Alvarado for an extended visit in Temple to be closer to family and medical care. Peggy is preceded in death by her Husband of 40 years J C (Smitty) Smith, Her Mother and Father: Byrd Smyth and Nellie Gilland Brooks, Her brother and sister- in- law: James and Jackie Brooks.

Cousin: Jack (Brother) and wife Faye Brooks, Father and mother-in- law: Floyd and Viola Smith, Sister –in- law: Lucille and husband W H Strickland and their daughter Linda, Brother in Law: Herman and wife Lee Smith and their daughter Cheryl. Brother in law Floyd Benson Smith Jr. (June 12, 1944 Normandy) and his sister Billie Faye. Peggy is survived by her son Dan and wife Martha Scott Smith and their children, spouses and grandchildren, Peter Smith and daughter Lilli, Matt and wife Dani and children, Ania, Sophie, Lila and Boden, Logan and wife Cherie and son Roland; son, Sam and wife Katrina Cobb Smith and their children, spouses and grandchildren, Amber Brooke Smith, James and wife Carly and children Jackson, Savannah and Deacon; daughter, Susie and husband Dave Davenport and their children and grandchildren Debra and husband Stuart Smith and their children Hayden, Micah and Preston, Chris and wife Becky Davenport and their children Thomas and Morgan; nephew, David and wife Sharon and daughter Jamie, R W Brooks; nieces, Jean Strickland Drennan and husband Davey, Sheri Strickland Barton and husband Rick, Vickie Smith Pestana and husband Norman and many grand nieces and nephews.
