Peter C. Hentze, (Pete) 55, passed away on Tuesday September 11, 2018 at his residence in Concord, NC. He was the beloved husband of Jeanette Zupka Hentze for 34 years and the loving father of James H. Hentze and Peter C. Hentze Jr. (Emily) all of Concord, NC. He was born in Plainview, NY on August 26, 1963.

He was raised in East Northport, NY and graduated from Northport High School in 1981 where he met his wife, the love of his life and his partner in crime. He was the son of Ida F. Sperling Hentze and the late Walter H. Hentze. He was the dear brother of Walter Hentze (Lisa) of North Merrick, NY, and a very special uncle, Ludwig Sperling of Gulfport, FL.

He is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members and beloved friends. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served for 24 years, retiring in 2007 as a Chief Machinery Mate. During his years of service to the Coast Guard he was stationed on Governor’s Island, NY; Yorktown, VA; Portsmouth, VA; Little Creek, Norfolk; and Cordova, AK.

After his retirement he enrolled in Embry Riddle College and obtained his Bachelors in Technical Management in 2014 graduating Magna cum Laude. He was currently employed with Central Piedmont Community College as an instructor where he was the Cummins Tap Coordinator where he was doing what he loved, teaching. Pete’s life was devoted in service to his fellow man!

No man is a failure who has friends. The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home.
