Obituary for Phillip K. Koons CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Phillip K. Koons, age 72, of Centerville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 16, 2018, at Reid Health. Born October 4, 1945, in Richmond, Indiana, to James and Maxine McNutt Koons, Phil was a life-long resident of Wayne County.

He was a 1963 graduate of Milton High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Purdue University in 1967. Phil was a farmer for 30 years, working with both his father and son. He retired as a regional salesman from Dunrite Inc. Phil was a longtime member and past president of the Eastern Indiana Beagle Club.

He enjoyed working with beagles, hunting, and fishing. Phil was a loving husband and caregiver to his wife, Brenda. He was very special to his sisters and in recent years, they would meet at the home place to enjoy a home cooked meal and discuss with laughter their past life experiences.

Survivors include his son, Caleb (Julia) Koons of Centerville; grandsons, Cameron and Ethan Koons; sisters, Marilyn (Randy) Coldiron of Connersville, Indiana, and Barbara (Lawrence Schuler) McQueen of Abington, Indiana; nieces; nephews; first wife, Rickie Keller of Connersville; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Brenda Sue Capps Koons, who died October 20, 2016, and parents. A private memorial service for Phillip K. Koons will be held at a later date, per Phil’s wishes.
