Philomena D. “Chookie” (DePrimio) Rossi, 86, of Southwest Greensburg, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in UPMC East, Monroeville. She was born October 6, 1931 in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Anthony and Viola (Brasili) DePrimio. She was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg.

Chookie was the manager for several local entertainment companies. She wrote children’s poems and stories and published a series of children’s short stories. She taught herself to paint and hosted her own art exhibit in Youngwood.

She enjoyed dancing, Nascar and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She also enjoyed drawing and taught her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to draw. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony F. “Jess” Rossi on May 15, 1996; two sons-in-law, David Cooley and Raymond Miller; her grandson, Michael Nicholas Rossi; her brother, Anthony DePrimio, Jr.; and two sisters, Nicola Roland and Patricia Garris.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Anthony Rossi and wife Beverly, of Southwest Greensburg, and Patrick Frederick Rossi and wife Kathy, of Irwin; two daughters, Jessicia Christine Kozain and husband Jim, and Antoinette “Toni” (Cooley) Miller, all of Jeannette; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Heather), Kristen (Rob), Brian, Katy (Barry), Daniel (Katie), Kevin (Meg), Michael (Tia), Jesse (Lyndsey), and Alexandra (Joshua); 13 great-grandchildren, Cayden, Camden, Riley, Averie, Isaac, Gavin, Kassidy, Levi, Conner, Trevor, Kendall, Maison, and Zander; her sister, Donna Rhodes, of Southwest Greensburg; and her sister-in-law, Fran DePrimio, of Greensburg. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC. , 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.

Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Home Instead and staff at Redstone Highlands for their kind and compassionate care.
