Obituary for Phyllis Alvino Phyllis Alvino, 91 of Toms River, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at the Arbor Care Center in Toms River, New Jersey. Born Monday, December 6, 1926 in her parents apartment in Little Italy, in New York, Phyllis was the daughter of the late James and Rose Lalli. At a young age Phyllis’ parents would move to Brooklyn and that is where she would grow up.

After graduating from High School Phyllis would meet the love of her life, Carmine Alvino and the couple would marry. They would spend the next 59 years together until Carmine’s passing in 2009. During their life together they would continue to live in Brooklyn and that is where they would raise their family.

Phyllis worked as a book keeper at Regina Pacis Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Phyllis was active in the Italian American Club, and was a Girl Scout Troop leader. Phyllis was a very giving person, and enjoyed spending time doing volunteer work.

After retirement Phyllis and Carmine would move to Toms River, NJ. There Phyllis was active in the Travel Club and also in the Mahjong Club. Phyllis enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, and playing her favorite game Triple Play Poker.

Phyllis also enjoyed spending time reading, most of all Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, and she will be missed by all those that were blessed to have had her in their lives. Phyllis is survived by her loving children, James Alvino and his wife Marge, Alfred Alvino and his wife Anne Marie, and Susan Fogli and her husband Thomas, by her cherished grandchildren, James, Stefanie, Lisa, Laura, and Alfred, and her cherished great grand daughters Sophia, Abigail, and Eliza. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday 10:30a.

m at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge, NJ. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
