Obituary of Phyllys McDougall Port Leyden- Phyllys M. McDougall, 69, of River Road, widow of Elwood E. Sr, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at her camp on Moose River Road, Port Leyden. A native and lifelong resident of the Town of Lyonsdale, she was born on April 4, 1949, a daughter of William E. and Mildred May Edley Gates Champion. Phyllys attended Port Leyden Central School and graduated from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1967.

Thereafter she was employed as a sewing machine operator and floor supervisor, at Lally Mfg Co. Port Leyden, before working as a sewing machine operator at Herkimer Curtains & Fabric, Herkimer, followed by employment as a nurse assistant at Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville, and at Mohawk Correctional Facility, Rome, from where she retired. Since retirement, until the present time, Phyllys was employed as a part time sewing machine operator at Otis Technology, Lyons Falls. On December 3, 1968, Phyllys was united in marriage with the love of her life, Elwood E. McDougall, Sr. at Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls.

Mr. McDougall, a retiree of Law Bros. Construction Co., Lyons Falls, passed away on December 28, 2016. Phyllys greatly enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and had recently begun the hobby of adult coloring.

She was talented and skilled at crocheting for many years and enjoyed making blankets for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed spending time at her camp at Cold Brook Campsites. She is survived by four daughters: Theresa (Gary) Outtrim, Lyons Falls, Paula (Allan) Hoffert, Jr. Constableville, Kristen McDougall and her significant other, Eric James, Blue Ridge, GA and Kim (Gene) Clark, Jr. Rome; one son, Elwood McDougall, Jr. and his fiancé, Kayla Irvin, Constableville; 24 grandchildren, among whom is Dylan, who resided with Phyllys, 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marcia (Richard) Snyder, Boonville, Cynthia (Jerry) Brown, Cape Coral, Fla; one brother, Joel Champion, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Darrly W. Champion and Maurice David Champion and one sister, Kim Sibley. Her Funeral Service will be Friday, at 6:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours will be Friday 4-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to J.S.
