Obituary of Ruth Hutchins Camden – Ruth L. Hutchins, 86, of Masonic Street, formerly of Lyons Falls, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, while surrounded by the care of her loving family. Ruth was born on July 28, 1931 in Lyons Falls, a daughter of Peter and Mabel Omans Hook. She was raised in Lyons Falls, where she received her education graduating from Lyons Falls High School with the Class of 1950.

In 1951 Ruth was married to Roy E. Hutchins; later the couple divorced. Ruth was employed as a laborer for AMF Co., Lowville and Melee Manufacturing Co. Utica. For a time she worked as a seamstress at Lally Manufacturing, Port Leyden.

She retired from Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Aide. Ruth was talented at knitting and enjoyed crocheting as well. She was an avid reader and cherished the time she was blessed to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For the past six years, she had resided in Camden where she was a dedicated volunteer at the Clothing Connection Store. Ruth is survived by her children: Mary (Sir John) Fries, Illinois, Pauline Bauer and her significant other Dave Wieczerzak, Lowville, Cathy Napierkowski, Boonville, Nancy (Ralph) Lowry, Georgia, Roy E. Hutchins, Jr., West Leyden, Sue Hutchins, Washington, Peter Hutchins and his significant other Melissa, Boonville, and Barbara (Mike) Plumley, Williamstown; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, her brother Stanley (Pat) Hook, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Jane Hook, and brothers John, Peter and George Hook.

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of her family and there are no calling hours. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. box 682, Lowville, NY 13367.

Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
