Obituary for Rachel Hartley (Turner) Rachel Turner Hartley, age 97, of Granite Falls, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2018 following a slow decline in health. Born on February 3, 1921 in Caldwell County to the late John A. and Genelia Sherill Turner, she was the last of thirteen children. Rachel graduated from Granite Falls High School and was a retired secretary/bookkeeper for Hemlock Mfg.
then Habersham Furniture of Hickory. She was a life-long and last charter member of The Rock Chapel Church of God in Granite Falls. Mrs. Hartley was preceded in death by Grady Hartley, her spouse of 74 years.
, daughters Patsy H. Burke and Judy Hartley, a grandson, David Hartley and six brothers and six sisters. Survivors include a son, Tony (wife Debbie) of Granite Falls, four grandchildren, Rita Hefner (husband Kevin) of Bethlehem, Pamela Mackie (husband Bryon) of Hickory, Julie Holman (husband Jon) of Granite Falls and April Biddix (husband Chad) of Lenoir; eight great grandchildren, Rachel Ratledge (husband Alex) and Shea Hefner (wife Casey) of Hickory, Aubrey and Ashleigh Holman of Granite Falls, Gavin and Braeden Goudelock, Mason and Landon Biddix of Lenoir, and a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on June 9, 2018 at 10:00-11:00 am, funeral following at 11:00 am at Rock Chapel Church of God and officiated by Rev.
Ron Leasure and Rev. Casey Finn. Burial will be at Pinecrest Cemetery in Granite Falls.
The family would like to thank Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care (CHPC) in Hudson for the special care given to their loved one. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CHPC. Mackie Funeral Home is serving the family.
