Obituary for Ralph L. and Veda Mullins Turnipseed Memorial Services for both Ralph Lenier Turnipseed, age 88 and Veda Mullins Turnipseed, age 83 of Lindale, Texas are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, Texas with and Pastor Tom Buck and Paul DeRousse officiating. A private interment will follow at the Lindale City Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home. Ralph passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Lindale, Texas.
He was born October 13, 1929 in DeKalb, Mississippi to the late James Thurman Sr. and Trudie Pearl (Huckaby) Turnipseed. Ralph has lived in Lindale for over 30 years where he was a member of the First Baptist church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and later continued to serve his fellow man being involved with the Texas Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief and Meals on Wheels programs.
Professionally, Ralph traveled the world working as an Electronic Engineer retiring from the Rockwell International Corporation. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Veda Mullins Turnipseed on March 13, 2018; sister, Mildred Dilworth; and brothers, Eugene and Billy Turnipseed. He is survived by his daughter, DeAnna Smith of Lindale, Texas; son, Ron Smith and wife, Robin of Tyler, Texas; brothers, J.T. Turnipseed and wife, Melnee of Lindale, Texas and Charles Turnipseed of Arlington, Texas; grandson, Andrew Smith of Jacksonville, Texas; great grandson, Jarrett Smith of Jacksonville, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Veda passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Lindale, Texas. She was born January 4, 1935 in Cookson, Oklahoma to the late George Edward and Mary Emma (Jordan) Mullins. Veda has lived in Lindale for over 30 years where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Throughout her life she worked as an executive secretary with the Osborn Missionary Foundation in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Calvary Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, various other firms throughout Texas and was a loving homemaker, wife, and mother. Veda was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Upon her passing she was survived by her husband of 44 years, Ralph Turnipseed of Lindale, Texas who has since passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 She is survived by her daughter, DeAnna Smith of Lindale, Texas; son, Ron Smith and wife, Robin of Tyler, Texas; grandson, Andrew Smith of Jacksonville, Texas; great grandson, Jarrett Smith of Jacksonville, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
