Obituary for Thurman Maurice “Mo” Scogin Funeral Services for Thurman Maurice “Mo” Scogin, age 88 of Hideaway, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, TX with Pastor Frank McDaniel officiating. A private family interment will follow at the Mt. Comfort cemetery in Maydelle, TX.

Mo passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 in Tyler, Texas. He was born September 24, 1929 in Maydelle, TX to the late Andrew Jackson and Nora Elizabeth (Swearingen) Scogin. Mo served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, graduated from Stephen F. Austin University (History), and later retired from IBM after 34 years.

Mo was truly larger than life – full of integrity, was a true gentleman, and had a wonderful sense of humor. His early years growing up in Maydelle remained dear to him his entire life. He particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing, poker with family, and dancing with his wife of 34 years, AnnaBelle Scogin of Hideaway, TX.

Mo is also survived by daughters, Debra Kay Gray and husband, Mitchell of Quitman, TX and Kristin Lee Scogin of San Diego, CA; brother, Andrew Jackson Scogin and wife, Martha of Ft. Worth, TX; stepson, Bill John McLester and wife Christi of Chandler, TX; step-daughters, Terri Sue Cheatham and husband, Mark of Hideaway, TX, Deborah Ann Worek of Lindale, TX, and Anna Leah Menard and husband, Jason of Buda, TX; step-mother, Nevillene Scogin of Bullard, TX; step-brother, Jeff Miller of Bullard, TX; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, James Osborn Scogin.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service Friday, May 4, 2018 at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Thurman Maurice “Mo” Scogin please visit our Sympathy Store. Previous Events Visitation , MAY 4.
