Obituary for Raynor C. Shook RITTMAN – Raynor C. Shook, 90, of Rittman, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, June 13, 2018, at Altercare of Wadsworth following a period of declining health. He was born April 14, 1928, in Rittman to the late Tracy and Leota (Steele) Shook and has lived his entire life in Rittman. He is survived by his wife Laura (Lower) Shook whom he married on November 9, 1963 in Wadsworth and has been happily married to her for over 54 years.

He was a member of Hillside Baptist Church, and was a former Rittman City Council member. He was a truck driver by trade, working at the family business Shook Lumber for many years (where he was known as “Buzz” by many colleagues and friends), and also for Wooster Motor Ways, where he retired from in 1990 after a combined 50 years of service. He also, along with his wife, owned and operated Raynor’s Restaurant in downtown Rittman for a few years in the 1970’s.

Raynor loved spending time with his family and enjoyed meeting with friends to share stories over coffee. But above all, he loved the Lord. He is also survived by his daughters Linda Miller of Wadsworth, LuAnn (Perry) Matheny of Doylestown, Debra (Charles) McCurdy of Rittman, Vickie (LaMont) Roth of Marshallville, and Sharon Deem (Joe DiBiase) of Wadsworth; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Donna (Dean) Yoder of North Canton; sister-in-law Nina Shook of Wooster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Victor and Arnold; and sisters Selena and Tracelia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11:00am at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman, with Pastor Kevin Fath officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
