Rebecca S Barror Vondrasek , November 12, 1965 — April 27, 2018

Rebecca S. Vondrasek of Chesaning, age 52, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw after her courageous battle against breast cancer. She was first diagnosed two years ago and most recently learned it had returned as metastatic breast cancer in February. Rebecca was born November 12, 1965, in Owosso to Donald and Barbara (Miller) Barror.

She was a resident of Chesaning most of her life. She was a graduate of Chesaning Schools and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University. Rebecca met her future husband Todd when she was sixteen years old, and they were married on June 29, 1985, in Chesaning.

She began her education career teaching pre-school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Later she earned her certification in Special Education and taught at Hill-McCloy High School in Montrose for 19 years. Rebecca was very active in her community and spent time volunteering for many school and local events, especially those her children were a part of.

Rebecca loved to travel visiting Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Ireland, and Italy. She shared her love of travel with her children and encouraged them to go see the world. Rebecca devoured books keeping the library busy with her requests, loved to do crafts, and was proud that most of her pets were rescue animals.

She is survived by her husband, Todd; daughter, Alycia (Erik) Smith of Saginaw; son, Alec Vondrasek (Partner Carolina) of Chicago, IL; parents, Donald and Barbara Barror of Chesaning; brothers, Michael (Tami) Barror of Chesaning and Brian (Amy) Barror of Owosso; brother-in-law, Trent (Jill) Vondrasek of Chesaning; sister-in-law, Timmery (Bill) Foster of Fenton; many nieces, nephews; her best friend since kindergarten, Bobbi McIntyre of Chesaning; and her loving cats Onnie, Pumpkin, and Spice, who miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Street (M-57) in Chesaning with Pastor Timothy Woycik officiating. Cremation to follow.

Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Misiuk Funeral Home and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in her memory may be given to the family so they can direct donations to the charities of their choosing.
