The close friends of Regina Joy Jenkins are greatly saddened to announce her passing on May 25, 2019, from complications from cancer. Regina was the beloved daughter of Thomas J. and Emily (Fisher) Jenkins and the loving sister of Dennis Jenkins, all of whom predeceased her. Regina graduated from South High School in 1960, then attended Bowling Green University for one year.

She received her B.A. from Youngstown University in 1965. She taught Spanish and French at Western Reserve Local Schools, Berlin Center, Ohio. Regina completed her M.A. in Library Science at Kent State University and served as librarian/media specialist at Western Reserve Local Schools until her retirement in 1992.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Boardman, where she served as the parish archivist and as a member of the Altar Guild, Lay Weeders group and a host of other roles. Regina also loved cats and dogs and had served as a volunteer for Angels for Animals for many years. Regina loved knitting, crafts of all kinds and playing cards.

She belonged to Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Mahoning County Retired Teachers Association, AAUW, Youngstown Branch, Newcomers of Mahoning Valley and PEO. She had served in leadership capacities for some of these organizations. Regina leaves behind her grieving long-time friends, neighbors, and her rescue cat, Jake.

Following cremation, Regina will be laid to rest with her brother, her parents and grandparents at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, at St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Avenue in Boardman. Following the service, a light lunch will be hosted by the church.
