He was born on January 29, 1930 in Wood County, Ohio, the son of Curtis Vernon Davis and Florence Weaver Davis. He married Lois Wigman on February 9, 1951 in Pemberville, Ohio. Surviving are his… Read More » wife, Lois of Kewanee; one daughter, Lois Margaret (David) Coulter-Beeman of Bath, New York; four sons, James (Mei) Davis of Okinawa, Japan, David (Hortensia) Davis, Sr. of Cartago, Costa Rica, John (Giohanna) Davis of Janesville, WI, and Rev.
Sidney (Jamie) Davis, Jr. of Toulon; twenty-six grandchildren as well as several great-grandchildren with more on the way, and even some great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Curtis Davis, Jr. of Bowling Green, OH, Irvin Davis of Marblehead, OH; and one sister, Florence Kimmel of Nunn, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William and sister, Alice. After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts, Sidney served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He taught Industrial Arts for a short time before earning a master’s degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. He loved his Lord Jesus Christ, the Church and his family. Sidney pastored churches in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Ohio, retiring in 1992 after 35 years in ministry.
His funeral will be Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at the Toulon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. also at the church. Rev.
Sidney Davis, Jr. will officiate. A second service will be held in Ohio at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay, on June 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. that day. Burial with military honors will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, Ohio on June 13, 2018.
