Richard Frazier, 89, of Olin passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his home. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service, Olin. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service, Olin.

Burial will be at Olin Cemetery with Military Rights. Richard was born on October 15, 1928 in Williamsburg, Iowa to F. Byron and Golden (Tarbox) Frazier. He graduated from Olin Consolidated High School in 1946.

Richard served faithfully and honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 24, 1948 he was united in marriage to Sara Jane Miller at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren in Waterloo, Iowa. They lived in Olin all of their married life.

During his period of 45 years of service in the United States Postal Service he went from Post Office Clerk for 16 years to Rural Mail Carrier for 28 years. Being blessed with a nice voice he also sang at many funerals, weddings as well as leading the church choir. He also lead a Boy Scout Troop of six boys to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico on a 100 mile fork parking trek, including his two sons.

He and his wife joined Little Bear Country Club at the time of its formation and served on the board. He was a member of Morley First United Methodist Church and the Blayney-Miner-Ahrendsen American Legion Post 412 of Olin. Richard enjoyed going to casinos, square dancing, attending his grandchildren’s events and most of all spending time with his wife of 69 years.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Sara Jane, children; Jeff (Sharm) Frazier of Cedar Falls, Dennis (Michelle) Frazier of Anamosa, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Eleanor (Richard) Hopewell, Joyce in infancy and a brother Jean Frazier. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Olin Ambulance, Morley First United Methodist Church or the Olin American Legion in his honor.
