Richard C. “Dick” Burton, 85, of Augusta, IL died Tuesday April 17, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA. He was born on January 18, 1933 in Plymouth, IL to Charles and Maida Roudebush Burton. He married Janet Woods on November 1, 1964 in Augusta, IL, she survives.

Dick was a graduate of Plymouth High School. He was employed at Huff’s Service Station in his early years and later served as the Village Marshall and Mayor of Augusta. He retired after 33 years as a mechanic at Holmes Equipment Company in Augusta.

Dick had proudly served his country in Korea with the United States Army. Surviving with his wife Janet are a son, Richard L. (Nicole) Burton of Anamosa, IA, 2 daughters, Lisa (Bryan) Knorr of West Point, IL and their children, Jenna (Brian) Klucker and Jamie (Ryan) Carter, Sheila (Kendall) Carstens of Clayton, IL and their children, Jennifer, Michael and Heather Carstens, 7 great-grandchildren, a brother, Lloyd (Jean) Burton of Colchester, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, William and Lyle Burton and 2 sisters, Thelma Wayland and Lila Wells.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday April 20, 2018 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL by Rev. Patsy Spratt. Visitation will be held from Noon until the time of services.

Memorials may be made to the Southeastern Food Pantry. The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
