Richard “Dick” Stephen Mulcahy, age 83, of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Eden Village, Glen Carbon, IL. Dick was born on January 22, 1935 in Boston, MA, a son of the late William Mulcahy and Florence (Fay) Mulcahy. Dick was of the Catholic faith.

He graduated from Boston High School and Boston College. Dick was a United States Army veteran who proudly served his country. On September 28, 1968, Dick married Patsy Shevcik, the love of his life at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City, IL.

Dick was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan. He enjoyed watching them play throughout the years. He retired as a procurement officer from AVSCOM after many years of dedicated service.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Dick loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Sharon Shevcik and Elizabeth “Betty” Shevcik; brother-in-law, Richard Shevcik; and by a nephew, Kenneth Shevcik. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Ralph Shevcik of Troy, IL; proud uncle to Mary (Rob) Bonham of Alamo, CA, Jan (Keith) Jensen of Troy, IL, Caren (Joe) Saucier of Granite City, IL, Tim (Luan) Shevcik of Mt. Olive, IL and Carol (John) Tolan of Freeburg, IL; many great-nieces, great-nephews; extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Glen Carbon, IL. In celebration of his life, a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or to St. Patrick Center, St. Louis, MO. Donations will be accepted at the church. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.
