Ruth E. McGahan, age 100, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City, IL. Ruth was born on November 18, 1918 in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Clarence McGahan Sr. and Ella (Klund) McGahan. She retired from the St. Louis Post Dispatch purchasing department after many years of dedicated service.

Ruth was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Ruth loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, Agnes McGahan and Clarence McGahan Jr.; and by a niece, Ellen Fronabarger. She is survived by a great-nephew, John (Bridget) Fronabarger of Fenton, MO; great-niece, Lisa Fronabarger of Sandoval, IL; great-great nieces, Lily Breese, Amber Fronabarger and Anna Fronabarger; great-great nephew, Nickolas Devine; extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
