Deborah “Debbie” Stuart, age 56, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, MO. Debbie was born on June 11, 1962 in Alton, IL, a daughter of the late Jack Podner and Bettye (West) Podner. On September 12, 1981, Debbie married Ray Stuart, the love of her life in Norman, OK.

Ray passed away on December 23, 2015. Debbie worked at Totall Metal Recycling in Granite City IL, as the shipping and receiving coordinator. She was a dedicated and faithful employee for seventeen years.

Debbie was an all around sports fan. She enjoyed going to games with her friends and watching her favorite teams play on tv. Debbie never met a stranger and she was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Debbie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Lauren Stuart of Granite City, IL; brothers, Michael (Judy) Podner of Bossier City, LA, James Podner of Granite City, IL and John Podner of Volant, PA; proud grandmother to Lyla Lance, Edward Lance Jr. and Benjamin Lance; nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel with Rev. Charles West officiating.

Debbie will be laid to rest next to her parents at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana, IL, at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
