OBITUARY Richard F. Walsh August 27, 1940 – September 21, 2018 Richard F. Walsh, 78, of Yarmouth, ME formerly of W. Dennis, MA died Friday, September 21, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Madeleine (Lamothe) Walsh. Richard was born in Cambridge, MA.

He grew up in Belmont and went to Boston College High School, before continuing on to Suffolk University and then Suffolk Law School. He lived in Belmont, MA and summered at his home on the Cape in West Dennis for 35 years before moving to the Cape full-time 15 years ago. Richard was a self-employed attorney and founded Walsh & Fadden, Esq.

in Cambridge, MA where he worked for over 50 years. He was also the attorney of 45 years for North Cambridge Co-Operative Bank, a member of their board of directors for 29 years and chairman of the board for 12 years. He was a corporator for South Boston Savings Bank.

He served as an attorney for South Boston Savings Bank, Belmont Savings Bank and Cambridge Savings Bank. He also partnered with his long time friend Garrett Sheehan in Sheehan-Walsh Real Estate for a short period of time. Friendship and loyalty were important to Richard.

If you were his friend, you had a friend for life. The same was true of his associates and colleagues. To all who knew him, he was a solid and beloved friend.

In his leisure, Richard enjoyed his 43 year membership with the West Dennis Yacht Club. He served as Commodore at the club from 1981-1982, and enjoyed many Friday night dinners and Sunday football games there over the years. In addition to his wife Madeleine, Richard is survived by his sons J. David Walsh and his wife Christine of Oklahoma City, OK and their children Aidan, Kaitlyn and Sarah; Stephen Walsh and his wife Karin of Yarmouth, ME and their children Emma and Stevie; James Walsh of Dartmouth, MA and his son Seth; and his daughter Karyn Dillon and her husband Greg of Barrington, RI and their children Drew, Josh and Kasey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, September 26th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, S. Dennis, MA 02660. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, September 27th at St. Pius X Church, 98 Station Ave. , S. Yarmouth, MA 02664.

Burial will take place at 3 p.m. in Belmont Cemetery, 121 Grove St., Belmont, MA 02478.
