Obituary for Richard J. “Dick” Quinn The Villages, FL – Richard “Dick” Quinn, from The Villages, FL formerly of Albany, NY, died suddenly on April 2, 2018 in New Haven, CT with his wife, children, and nephews at his side. He was born December 1, 1948 in Troy, NY to John and Lorraine Quinn. Dick grew up in the Port Schuyler area of Watervliet, NY and was a student at St. Brigid’s and Catholic Central High School.

He earned a BA in Mathematics at Siena College, and a MA in Mathematics at SUNY Albany. Dick began his teaching career at St. Gregory’s School in Loudonville, but he spent the majority of his working career teaching middle/high school mathematics at Waterford-Halfmoon School; teaching a total of over 30 years. He retired with his wife, Marie, 10 years ago, to The Villages, FL.

Dick was an avid golfer, playing 3-4 times per week in retirement and was very proud of not one, but two holes-in-one. He was an insatiable sports fan, rooting for the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants, and even played softball himself in retirement. But his favorite past-time was playing with his grandkids.

Dick was a devout Catholic and a deeply religious man, who was outgoing and friendly to everyone he met. He was never at a loss for conversation. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Barbara Tromp as well as his uncles, James and Donald Quinn.

Dick is survived by his wife Marie of 42 years, his son James (Jennifer), daughter Maureen (Ashton), and son Daniel (Holly) and his eight grandchildren Peter, Logan, Catherine, Patrick, Chloe, Dominic, Conor and “Baby Quinn” en utero, as well as 10 nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am in Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet.

Friends are invited and may visit with Dick’s family on Thursday from 4 until 7 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial in Watervliet.
