Richard J. Meintel, 90 of Lakemont, passed away Saturday at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Herbert A. and Agatha M. (Eichenlaub) Meintel. Richard married Marian B. Quirin February 7, 1948 in St. John’s Catholic Church by Father Eugene Parish.

Surviving are his wife with whom he shared 70 years of marriage; a daughter, Patricia J.; a son, Richard and wife Farris, all of Lakemont; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon M. Meintel Oakes and a sister, Helen Meintel Kraus. He was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1946 and attended Penn State University.

Richard retired after 47 years from Butterick as a printing supervisor. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont. Richard was an avid outsdoorsman and enjoyed the cottage at Burnt Cabins.

There will be no public viewing. At the request of the family, private services will be held at Sorge Funeral Home, Inc., Hollidaysburg, Deacon Charles R. Ahearn, officiating. Committal will be in Calvary Cemetery.
