Robert G. Cobler, 87, Hollidaysburg, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Gallitzin, son of the late William A. and Mary H. (Kudrick) Cobler. He married Rosemary M. McKee on March 2, 1957, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.

She passed away on May 26, 2011, after having shared 54 years of marriage. Surviving are two daughters: Heather Hall and husband, Mick, of Henderson, Nev. , and Grace M. Brenneman of Hollidaysburg; a son, Seth, and wife, Helen, of Pittsboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren: Rikki, Sierra, Jordan, Josh, Maddie, Finn and Tessa; a great-grandson, Clayton; a great-granddaughter, Riley, who was raised in the family home; a daughter-in-law, Sue Cobler-Stevens; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Cobler.

He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew, in 1999; and a brother, William J., in 1998. Robert was a 1948 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He served two years in the National Guard and four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.

He began work with West Penn Chemical Co., continued on with McKesson Chemical Co. and retired from Van Waters and Rogers Chemical Co., after 35 years of service as a driver and warehouse manager. After retirement, he worked with Allegheny Mountain Convention and Visitors Bureau as a fulfillment manager with 18 years of service. Robert was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where he served as an usher.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and golf, where he was nicknamed “Down-the-middle Bob” and had achieved three holes-in-one. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held during the visitation.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Monsignor Stanley B. Carson. Committal will be at New St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sideline Cancer in care of Griffith Family Foundation, 309 Allegheny St., Suite 5, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
