Dean A. Walters, 87, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at his residence. He was born in Duncansville, son of the late Eli and Sarah (Clapper) Walters. He was first married to Kathleen Detwiler who preceded him in death in 2009.

He then married Nancy Vargo in 2011. Surviving are his wife of seven years; two children: Lynn Reed and husband, Ken and Lissa Long and husband, John, all of Roaring Spring; two stepchildren: Wendy Dukeman of Altoona and Robert Porter in North Carolina; and eight grandchildren. He was the last survivor of eight siblings.

Dean graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1950. He retired as an office manager from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc., Roaring Spring, after 40 years of service. He enjoyed preaching the Gospel, singing, teaching Sunday school and traveling.

Dean also enjoyed watching boxing and football. Friends will be received from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Tuesday, Oct 23, 2018 at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Pastor Kathy Colebank officiating.

Interment will be at Dry Run Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Home Nursing Agency Hospice 20 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, PA 16602.
