Obituary for Rick Dee Peterson Rick Dee Peterson, 60 of Herrin, passed away at 8:13 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Herrin Hospital. Rick was born October 1, 1957 in Chicago to Allen J. Peterson and Virginia Cagle. He married Barbara Mayes on November 24, 1976 in Chicago.

Rick was retired, having worked for the Brook Park Fence Company and MD Kilmer Corporation in Ohio. He was a veteran of the United States Marines having served his country honorably. He is survived by his wife Barbara Peterson of Herrin; three children, Edward (Christy) Peterson of Herrin, Daniel Peterson of Herrin and Cynthia (Shaun) Turner of Stonefort; two adopted daughters, Amanda (Billy) Lauderdale of Herrin and Wendy (Clifford) Hageman of Carterville; sixteen grandchildren; mother and step-father, Virginia and Charles Nix of Johnston City; two sisters, April Peterson of Chicago and Robin (Wally) Anderson of Mishawaka, IN.

He is also survived by several adopted grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; two sons, Johnathan and Robert Peterson; one brother, Allen M. Peterson. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
