Obituary for Rita M. Benseler Rita M. Benseler (Grimes), 91, passed away on November 4th, 2018. Rita was a talented local artist and mother of three; Pam Patrie of Trenton, Ohio; Jeff Benseler of Athens, Ohio; and Nancy Price of Charlotte, North Carolina. She has five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Rita graduated from Miami University Oxford, Ohio in 1949. She married Ted C. Benseler during their senior year September 1948. Their 48 year marriage lasted until Dr. Benseler’s passing in 1997.

The middle child of Dan and Freda Grimes, Rita was raised in Ironton, Ohio with sisters including the late Maxine Dees and Nancy Litle of Franklin, Ohio. For the past several years she has been the constant companion of Roger Carter at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe. The pair attended the Monroe First Church of God and were surrounded by many caring and supportive friends.

Rita was an award winning artist at the Middletown Fine Arts Center. She was known for her ability to work with vibrant colors, most notably in oils and pastels. Her smile, humor, kindness, and compassion will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
