Obituary for Robert A. Robinson Robert A. Robinson of Mableton, GA passed away on September 30, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, October 5, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta. Mr. Robinson is survived by his loving wife, Tania K. Robinson; his children, Sonjanique Ferrell, Robert A. Robinson II, Victoria Robinson, Karen Robinson, Vanessa Robinson, Sean Robinson, Nia Phillips; his mother Jessie Mae Robinson; two sisters, Sharon, Gloria Brown; four grandsons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert Arneal Robinson was born in Waco, TX to Arneal Robinson and Jessie Mae Robinson. He attended local Waco schools graduating from Carver High School. After, high school he attended Texas A&M and completed two bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Psychology at Prairie View A&M.
While at Prairie View, Robert, or better known as RA or chicken man to his friends, was in the ROTC program and upon graduation entered the United States Army. While in the Army he traveled across the world including, Canada, Iraq, Panama Canal Zone, Haiti to name a few. During his nearly 30 years of service, Robert received the Humanitarian Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal among several other awards and honors.
During his military duty and while raising six children, Robert furthered his education by receiving two master’s Degrees in Counseling Education and Guidance Counseling/Psychology. Robert had extensive experience as an Army Senior level manager, financial planner, school counselor and interviewer for the military and civilian world. He is the recipient of two Legion of Merit.
Robert was active in his community as a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marietta where he served as a Eucharist minister, member of RCIA and volunteer for Vacation Bible School. Robert is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Robert was a member of the South Cobb and Austell Business Associations and served as a manager at an election polling location in Cobb County, GA. Robert was a loving, caring, supportive, family-oriented man committed to his community.
He taught his kids and all he encountered great morals, values, leadership skills, gardening, sports, and collecting. He leaves behind to cherish his life, his loving wife Tania K. Robinson, his children Sonjanique, Robert II, Victoria, Karen, Vanessa, Sean, & Nia, 4 grandsons, his mother, two sisters and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
