Obituary for Robert Anthony Bullard, Sr. LAKE WORTH – Bobby Bullard, 75, was born Dec. 17, 1942 and went to be with our precious Savior on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 8:19 p.m. He was born in Brownfield, Texas to Samuel and Laverne Bullard. He married the love of his life, Betty J. McQueen from Brownfield, Texas.
They were high school sweethearts and were married for 56 years. They had two children, Janet Green and Tony Bullard. They were also blessed with two granddaughters, Megan Michelle Bullard, Alissa Ann Biles; one great-granddaughter, Olive Leigh Ann Biles; and a great-grandson, Zachary Dillon Green.
Bobby attended Brownfield High School and lived in Brownfield until he moved to Lake Worth, Texas in March of 2017. He was a member of First Christian Church in Brownfield for 38 years. He served on the property committee and also served communion, which he loved.
He and his wife, Betty, moved their membership to First Christian Church in Fort Worth in July of 2017. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1970 at Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield and was baptized. He loved his Savior and he read the bible through eight times with his wife, Betty.
He really liked all the chapters in the bible and could not pick a favorite book. If he had a favorite it would be Job and Revelations. Bobby said he will do whatever Jesus wants him to do on this earth.
If he had to suffer on this earth for Jesus he would do it gladly and he did. He was a good Christian man and loved to help others. He was in the police reserves for 15 years and was trained to run the Jaws of Life and would run that whenever there was an accident.
He really enjoyed the reserves. Bobby had several jobs operating heavy equipment, which was his passion. His oldest brother, Jerry Bullard, taught him how to operate backhoes and Bobby fell in love with operating backhoes.
B & B Backhoe Service was his business for seven years prior to going to work for the Texas Highway Department where he was employed for 17 years as assistant supervisor. He retired in May of 2006. He loved to go fishing with his son, Tony Bullard, Terry Crutcher and Gary Oliver.
He also loved golf and played for approximately 30 years with his wife, Betty. However, as years went by his game went down. He continued to play for a few more years and then had to give it up.
He could play the guitar and sing. He did have a pretty voice. He would play the guitar with his brother-in-law, Wren Cravey, his son, Tony Bullard, Gary Oliver, son-in-law, Tuffy Green and several other talented people.
We all enjoyed listening to them play. Bobby would hold our daughter, Janet, on his lap and play the guitar for her and sing to her. When she was two years old he taught her to sing.
Amazing that she could sing at the age of two, but she was older than her years, ha, ha! He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Laverne Bullard; one brother, Virgil Leo Bullard; and one sister, Eleanor Herman. Survivors: Wife, Betty Bullard; his daughter, Janet Green and husband, Tuffy Green; his son, Tony Bullard and wife, Anissa Bullard; two granddaughters, Megan Michelle Bullard and Alissa Ann Biles and husband, Timothy Biles; one precious great-granddaughter, Olive Leigh Ann Biles; great-grandson, Zachary Dillon Green; and one brother, Jerry Bullard.
Just before Bobby died, his wife Betty asked him if he saw Jesus, and he nodded his head ‘yes’, and died a most beautiful death with a small grin on his face. He had a very peaceful death. Even though Betty knew he was going to Heaven, the fact that he saw Jesus was a great comfort to her.
Bobby would say please don’t grieve for me, I am so happy. Live your life for Jesus and love God with all your heart, mind, body, soul, and strength. Love one another as God commanded us to do.
