Robert “Bob” Coblens February 24, 1939 – December 28, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Robert “Bob” Coblens of College Place and formerly of Milton-Freewater passed away on December 28, 2018 in Yakima, Washington at the age of 79 years. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Milton-Freewater with Pastor Duane Geyer officiating. A reception will follow at the Upper 9 at the Milton-Freewater Golf Course.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Robert “Bob” Coblens to the Shriners Children’s Hospital (Burn Center), Providence St. Mary Cancer Center (Special needs) or charity of choice in care of the funeral home. Robert Coblens was born on February 24, 1939 in New York, New York to Seymour and Doris (Trivers) Coblens. Bob and his family moved to Portland at an early age.

He attended Duniway elementary school and graduated from Cleveland High School in Portland in 1957. Bob was very active in athletics and was inducted into the Cleveland High School Hall Fame. After high school, Bob attended the University of Oregon and later received his law degree from Willamette University.

It was during this time Bob enlisted in United States Air Force. Bob married Myra Montrost in 1961 and had three boys. After a medical discharge from the service, Bob practiced law in Salem and La Grande in 1988 before moving to Milton-Freewater where he retired in 2006.

Even after his retirement, Bob continued to provide legal aid for many years. On August 4, 2001 Bob married Susan Moss in Walla Walla. Together the couple had many wonderful years.

Bob enjoyed golf, swimming and politics, he was member of the Milton-Freewater Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Walla Walla Country Club and YMCA. Bob will be remembered for being likeable, athletic and generous. He is survived by his wife Susan Coblens of College Place; sons, Todd and Glen (Mia) Coblens of Portland; daughter-in-law Sara Coblens of Beaverton, Oregon; step-children, Jeff (Melaine) Moss of Bend, Oregon; Cory (Krista) Moss of Las Vegas, Nevada and Danielle (Gregg) Embree of Portland; sister, Ellen (Rick) Kermer of Orange County, California; grandchildren, Michelle, Zackery and Levi; step-grandchildren; Samantha, Ella, Gracie and Grant.

His parents, son Ross Coblens and step-son Brin Moss all preceded him in death.
