Robert E. “Bob” Bedford, 85, of Mount Joy, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his residence. Born in Williamsport, he was the son of the late George T. and Marion (Matlack) Bedford. Bob was the husband of Martha (Melleby) Bedford with whom he celebrated 35 years of marriage this past August 4th.

Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was the IT Manager at Lancaster General Hospital setting up the first computer system in 1966. Later he was a co-founder of Physicians Support Systems in Mount Joy.

Bob was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Mount Joy. Surviving in addition to his wife, Martha are three children, Lynne Wulf, wife of Lavern of Harrisburg, Jeffrey Bedford, husband of Judy of Harrisburg and Laura Burke, wife of Kevin of Lancaster and a brother, James Bedford, husband of Joanne of MD. He was also a grandfather of ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons and a daughter. The Bedford family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to the staff at Wissler Run of Mennonite Home, Hospice and Community Care and Visiting Angels. The wonderful care and compassion during Bob’s illness is greatly appreciated.

A funeral service honoring Bob’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park.
