Robert “Bob” L. Medallis, 91, of Newton Falls passed on Monday, September 17, 2018 at his residence. He was a fifteen year cancer survivor. Bob was born on September 15, 1927 in Newton Falls, Ohio the son of Huston and Marie Fayga Medallis.

A lifetime area resident, he was a 1945 graduate of Newton Falls High School. He served our county honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Bob held membership in the VFW 3332.

Bob proudly worked in the Warren steel mills, Republic Steel, later WCI, for 34 years, retiring in 1992. His interests were varied. He loved bowling, pitching horseshoes, working with his flowers, frequenting casinos with his family and friends, photography, dancing and celebrating New Year’s Eve at the American Legion.

Bob was an avid local sports fan and rooted for the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Bob would share with his family the many memories that he had doing kid’s stuff with his brother, George. He was a faithful parishioner and a lifetime member of Saint Mary and St. Joseph Parish in Newton Falls.

Cherished memories of Bob will be carried on by his sons, Robert A. Medallis and James B. (Sheri) Medallis; his grandchildren, Drew and Michaela; his sister-in-law, Kay Hudak; his brother-in-law, Gordon Nelson and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of fifty two years, Anna; his parents and his brother, George. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Thomas R. Neuman and his staff for their care given to Bob during his recent illness.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish in Newton Falls with Rev. Shawn Conoboy as celebrant.

Bob will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris Township. .
