William “Bill” Harry Showers, Jr., 71, of Newton Falls, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Washington Square Nursing Home. He was born in Warren, Ohio on October 8, 1946 the son of William and Bernadette Crahen Showers. Bill was a 1965 graduate of Newton Falls High School.

He was drafted into the US Army and proudly served in the Vietnam Conflict. After returning from service Bill found employment with Rockwell International, then, he worked at Copperweld Steel for 23 years until both closed and then found employment with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office where he worked with the Mounted Unit. He also worked as a security guard at the Giant Eagle on Mahoning Avenue.

Bill was a HAM radio operator and an instructor. He collected motorcycles, Cushman scooters, antique tractors, and model trains and enjoyed hit miss motors. In addition, Bill had a variety of other interests.

Bill was a member of several organizations which included being President of the Blue Knights, and was a member of the Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County, the Newton Falls Masonic Lodge 462, the Newton Falls American Legion Post 236, the NRA, and a variety of other organizations. On August 1, 1986 in Warren, Bill was united in marriage with Sharon Dunmier. Cherished memories of Bill will be carried on by his wife Sharon, son Greg Showers of Newton Falls, daughters Michelle (Jeff) Fry of Newton Falls, Stacie (Paul) Kaldy of Tennessee, Alexis (Allan) Adams of Florida, brother James (Karen) Showers of West Virginia, ten grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents and son Douglas Showers. Family and friends may call on Monday, October 8, from 5 – 5:30 PM at the Newton Falls Methodist Church. The Newton Falls Masonic Lodge 462 service will begin at 5:30 PM.

The church service will be at 6 PM with Pastor Jeff Lanzer officiating. After the church service the Newton Falls Veteran Organization will honor Bill for his services to our country. Bill will be laid to rest in Hawley Cemetery.
