Dorothy H. Matwich, 95, of Leavittsburg, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the home of her granddaughter. She was born on November 15, 1923 in Bradley, Ohio, the daughter of James and Mary Takarck Kovarik. Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Smithfield High School.

She was a parishioner of the Polish National Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies’ Soladity. On August 21, 1948 in Warren, Dorothy and Raymond Matwich were united in marriage. Besides being a homemaker Dorothy enjoyed baking bread, reading the newspaper, taking care of her lawn, doing word searches, and watching game shows.

Cherished memories of Dorothy will be carried on by son Raymond (Susan) Matwich of Leavittsburg, daughter Patricia Matwich Kosiba of Ontario, Canada, four grandchildren Cindy (Brian) Persin, Adam (Stacey) Kosiba, Geoff (Mesha) Matwich, and Stephanie (Jeff) Morris, and eight great grandchildren. Preceding Dorothy in death were her husband Raymond in 2014, her brothers Eugene, Larry and Jimmy Kovarik, and her sister Jenny Alden. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 20 from 4 – 7 PM at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls and on Wednesday November 21 from 10 – 11 AM where services will be at 11 AM.

Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband in Pine Knoll Cemetery.
