OBITUARY Robert Clifton Gray August 13, 1930 – January 18, 2019 Robert Clifton Gray 88, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Gray; son, Robert Clifton Jr.; son-in-law, Bob Kipps; and brother, Lester Gray. Robert will forever be remembered by his four children, Ann Martin (Buck), Lynn Kipps, Robert Glen Gray (Ginny) and Rita Edwards (Rocky).

Robert also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Angela, Alan, Sherry, Eric, Amy, Kelly, Jennifer, Micheal, Victoria, Brandi, Ethan; 18 great-grandchildren, and the many friends Robert had collected along the way. Robert was a 20-year veteran for the U.S. Army, where he taught others how to fly planes, helicopters and worked at the Pentagon. He also designed and built runway strips for the Airforce and was among the first to fly President Eisenhower off the White House South Lawn.

In his later years he really enjoyed assembling puzzles, camping and gardening. The family will recieve friends on Thursday, January 24, 2019, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23231. A second visitation will be held on January 25, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home, 203 North Front Street, Warrenton, North Carolina 27589, where funeral services will follow.
