Robert Earl Michaels, 84, of Friendsville, MD, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, MD. He was the son of the late R. James and Laura (Sines) Michaels. He was also preceded in death by his companion Verna Paugh; two sons, Robert A. Michaels and Thomas R. Michaels; two brothers, John “Wes” Michaels and Orville Michaels and a sister, Sue Sidebottom.

Robert was a truck driver by trade, working in the logging industry. He is survived by a son, Melvin Michaels and wife, Kelly, Spartanburg, S.C.; a daughter, Rebecca Younkin and husband, Charles, Friendsville; three brothers, Samuel Michaels, Fort Worth, TX, Donald Michaels and Earl Michaels, both of Youngstown, OH; a sister, Mae Sines, Oakland; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. At Robert’s request he will be cremated.

No services are planned. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, is in charge of his arrangements. Condolences may be left for his family at www.
