Robert’s Obituary York- Robert Edward Snow, 71 of York died on December 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle against Lewy Body Dementia. Born on January 15, 1947 in Dover NH he was a son of the late William and Dorothy (Irwin) Snow. He graduated from Eliot High School and from the University of Maine in Portland.
On October 18,1968 he married the love of his life Kay (Johnson) where they made a home in York and raised their three children. Mr. Snow was a beloved fifth grade teacher in the Portsmouth School System for 35 years. He developed a special bond with many students who kept in touch with him and visited often.
Teaching was his passion and there was never a day when he didn’t want to go to work. Robert enjoyed shooting at the range in Scarborough Maine and at Major Waldron’s Sportmen’s Association in Barrington, NH. He was a nationally placed skeet shooter, who was frequently listed in rifle magazines for his rankings.
An enthusiastic skier into his sixties, he enjoyed time on the mountain and was often the first down the hill. He was an avid reader, and especially loved history. Time spent on the water fishing with his dad and son brought him joy.
His first love was unquestionably his family. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years and caretaker throughout his illness, Kay Snow of York, children; Christopher Snow (Joanne), Peri-Lynne McCartney (Dan), & Johanna Carey (Jon). His beloved grandchildren, Shea, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Amelia, and Baby Boy Carey who will be blessing the family in May.
Brother William Snow (Kate) and nephew Ryan Snow. He was predeceased by loving parents William and Dorothy Snow. The family would like to express their gratitude to the following: Dr. William Coomey, Dr. Jodi Marshall, Dr. Maslinski, and caregiver Pam of Beacon Hospice.
On the final days, Kate Brady RN of Beacon Hospice was the light and comfort for Bob and the family.
