Obituary for Robert Forney Jr. Robert Forney, Jr., 55, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his home in Garden City. He was born October 3, 1962 in Corpus Christi, Texas the son of Robert Forney, Sr. & Mildred (Standley) Forney. Robert moved with his family to Osborne, Kansas when he was a child.

They later moved to Garden City in 1970. Robert attended both Osborne and Garden City schools. He then served in the United States Marine Corps for 7 years.

After the service, Robert lived in Jacksonville, Florida before moving back to Garden City. He worked most of his life in construction as a concrete worker. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Garden City and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include five sisters Glenda & husband David Smith of Garden City, Debbie & husband Greg Berry of Garden City, Sheryl Weaver of West Monroe, Louisiana, Valerie Forney of Amarillo, Texas, and Teresa & husband Darrell Huff-Wilkey of Brasstown, North Carolina; and ten nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Vicki Doherty. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Garden City with Pastor Robert Philips officiating.

A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
