Obituary for Mr. Robert Warren Bond Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Robert Warren Bond, age 84, passed away on December 17, 2018. In spite of his many business achievements, it was his love of family and friends that motivated all that he did and all that he was. Bob was born November 8, 1934 in Greenwood, MS and lived in Itta Bena, MS until age 9 when his family moved to Atlanta, GA.

In 1953, Bob graduated from Brown High School in Atlanta and landed a job selling power transmission equipment. It was also in Atlanta that he met Sandra Davis, who soon became Sandra Bond and has stood by his side for the last 61 years. He served in the US Navy for two years aboard the USS Intrepid.

In 1967 he founded Bond Transmission and Controls, in Greenville, SC, which he expanded into Bond Textile Machinery in 1971. The company won the US Commerce Department’s “E Award” for excellence in exports in 1981 and employed over 100 people. After putting his four sons through college, Bob retired from his textile business in 1994.

Continuing his entrepreneurial spirit, he owned and operated several local small businesses. In 1996, he moved to their lake home in Townville, SC. Always a Tiger fan, his final home was in Clemson, SC.

Bob’s is survived by, his wife: Sandra; sister: Nell Hammond; sons: Alan, Scot (Frances), Greg, Mark (Robin); grandchildren: William, Elizabeth Bond Cochran (Seth), Caroline Bond Gibbons (Peter), Steven, Andrew, Warren, Matthew, Wesley Sarvis (Bianca), Emily, Natalie; great-grandchildren: Samuel Cochran, Henry Cochran, Jane Cochran, Phoenix Bond, Sebastian Sarvis, Willow Sarvis; niece: Marsha Dorsey (Bill); nephew: James Hammond (Diane) and great-niece: Andrea. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
