Robert G. “Bob” McLaughlin, 93, lifelong resident of Janesville, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 8, 2018. He was born in Janesville on August 26, 1924; the son of Donald and Crystal (Bobzien) McLaughlin. He married his loving wife “the girl across the street”, Eleanor “Ellie” Klemp on March 8, 1947 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Bob was employed at Parker Pen in Janesville, retiring after 40 years. Bob enjoyed the circus, carnivals, planting fruit trees and flowers, and he especially loved the lights at Christmas and everything about the Christmas season. Bob is survived by his two sons, Keith (Claudia) McLaughlin and Neil (Candy) McLaughlin; daughter in-law, Sonja McLaughlin; grandchildren, Heidi McLaughlin, Matthew McLaughlin, Jason (Melinda) McLaughlin and their children: Noah, Jacob, and Ella; Kristy (Kevin) Garvey and their children: Mitchell, Colton, and Madilyn; Melissa (Chris) Sprangers and their children: Abby and Amelia; Laura (Matt) Charlet and their children: Rayna, Kylie and Gwen; Michelle (Ryan) McLaughlin and their children: Jonathan, Emma, and Jack; sister in-law, Geri Kerl; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob is predeceased by his wife in May of 2018; his parents; son, Scott McLaughlin; grandson, Nathan McLaughlin; and sister, Jean McLaughlin. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Schneider Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Decker officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. Entombment will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to St. Paul’s Church, Agrace Hospice, Rock Haven Nursing Home, or to Circus World Museum in Baraboo.

A very special thank you to the staff members of Home Instead, Agrace Hospice, and Rock Haven for all of their kindness and care. Also, a thank you to Rev. Dan Decker for his many visits with Ellie and Bob.
